About PixelUlu
I’m a 22 year old, Canadian expat, software engineer. Last year I married my incredibly awesome husband and recently completed the US immigration process so that we can live together in Pittsburgh while he finishes his degree. I enjoy geeky things of all kinds, the outdoors, travel, and living life to its fullest. I’m a non-denominational Christian who believes in a relationship rather than a religion, a generally liberal lady when it comes to politics, an amateur artist (18 years), an amateur violinist (14 years), and a type I diabetic determined to lead a normal life. I dabble in many things to occupy my spare time, and you might even find a few around the site.
A few years ago I began to use “PixelUlu” as a username and after using it multiple times, it became a part of me. ”PixelUlu” was chosen to represent the power and versatility of the web as a medium. I included “Pixel” because they’re the building blocks of our visual experience when using computers and “Ulu” because of its multi-purpose nature with an added homage to women and the north; an ulu is a blade used only by Inuit women as both a weapon and a tool for almost any task imaginable. Putting the two together, “PixelUlu” makes a statement about technology and what it can do when wielded by the right (wo)man.
Now that I’m all graduated and have begun real life, I’ve finally launched this site as a personal space to hold photos, thoughts, and projects. I won’t lie, it’s designed primarily with myself in mind and others second, but if you come across any issues or have any suggestions feel free to send me a line.
